Rothley School Mosaic

In our research we discovered that the Sea of Galilee is the largest freshwater lake in Israel flowing into the River Jordan with 18 species of fish including Tilapia Galilea (St Peters Fish), Barbus Longiceps, Kinneret Sardines and Catfish which were thought unclean and not eaten by Jews.  We created these fish in a 20ft long mosaic which is now installed over the curved area of the School reception area.

The mosaic was created in June 2016 working with every pupil from nursery through to year 6 and also included teachers, school staff, governor and parent representatives in the making. Made entirely in glass mosaic it makes  a shimmering statement in the School entrance.
