Pupil Memorial, Glade Hill Primary School

Pupil Memorial, Glade Hill Primary School

Memorial mosaic created with pupils, teachers and family members at Glade Hill Primary School, Nottingham. This pupil was fascinated by everything under the sea and children were invited to send in drawings to inspire the design of the mosaic which is now displayed in a central location in the School building.  He also loved collecting snails, so we created a second memorial mosaic for the classroom working with the special educational needs class, year 1 pupils and teachers. The colourful glass rounds are very tactile and ideal for small hands, helping to develop fine motor skills.

“We commissioned the creation of two mosaics from Julie to remember and celebrate the life of a very special little boy who attended our school and were blown away by the amazing service provided by Julie. From start to finish the quality and care provided by Julie during the process was exceptional and our children, staff and the parents of the child were able to create a fitting memorial for our school. Thank you so much Julie”

Platinum Jubilee Mosaic Forest Lodge Academy, Leicester

To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, year 3 & 4 children were invited to submit drawings of what they would like to see in the mosaic to commemorate this special event. I used these drawings as inspiration for the overall design which we created in a two-day School mosaic workshop. If you would like to commission a Royal Coronation mosaic for your School please get in touch.

St Clare’s Memorial Peace Dove

St Clare’s Memorial Peace Dove

School memorial project working with pupils and staff to commemorate the loss of a much loved member of staff. A shimmering peace dove with forget me not flowers and heart detail created in a one-day School workshop. This was a reflective project with staff and pupils coming together to work on the mosaic side by side.  I worked with a small group at a time and rotated throughout the day until everyone had participated by laying a few tiles. Now installed on the outside of the School building for everyone to visit.

“Julie worked with staff and students at our school to create a beautiful mosaic in memory of our colleague. Julie was incredibly sensitive and understood exactly what we wanted and needed. All the students responded to her calm and gentle manner. Julie explained the technique and worked patiently with everyone. The result was absolutely stunning! The school are extremely pleased with the mosaic. I could not have chosen anyone more perfect than Julie to create this important piece of art with us”

“The project was an exciting and creative way for us to celebrate our School’s 50th Birthday”

Silverdale Park Community mosaics

Silverdale Park Community mosaics

Working with the community to create 10 mosaic stepping stones as part of the re-development of Silverdale Park. Each slab measures 40cm x 40cm and now installed in the playground area. I worked with the pre-school along the theme of ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’, explored patterns and quilting with the Knitter Natter group and created the Scouts logo with the local Scouts group.

“Really pleased with how these have turned out. Julie was extremely helpful and a joy to work with. We will definitely be sending future projects her way”
